About

The Studio Behind Solene Atelier

Studio Story

A small Copenhagen practice built on the belief that a room should ask nothing of you.

Solene Atelier was founded in 2014 in a former bookbinder's workshop off Nyhavn, with a single conviction: that calm is designed, not decorated.

We work slowly and take on few projects at a time. Each begins with listening — to how a family moves through a morning, how a hotel wants its guests to arrive, how light crosses a floor in February. From that, we build interiors of natural material, quiet colour, and precise proportion, meant to hold up for decades rather than seasons.

The studio remains deliberately small: four people, one atelier, and a network of Danish makers, joiners, and stone workshops we have collaborated with for years. Most of our work comes by referral, and most of our clients stay with us from one home to the next.
